Sometimes the right answer to "what passport holder should I buy" is just whatever's cheapest and shows up before your flight. This is that answer, and it's a perfectly fine one.

The Amazon Basics RFID-Blocking Passport Wallet is the budget pick on our travel document organizers roundup, doing the basics for about $9.

Amazon Basics Passport Wallet at a glance

Why it's the budget recommendation

No frills here, it's a passport slot, a few card slots, and a zippered pocket for loose cash or a SIM card, all for less than a takeaway coffee. The zipper closure is a nice touch at this price, most cheap organizers skip it entirely and rely on the passport slot's friction to keep things in place.

What we like

• Genuinely cheap without cutting the RFID-blocking lining
• Zippered pocket, not common at this price point
• Nylon exterior handles a spill better than PU leather alternatives

What could be better

• Fewer card slots than the Zoppen or Travelambo
• Build quality suits occasional use, not years of daily travel
• No wrist strap option

Who it's for

Solo travelers who need something functional before a trip and don't want to spend much doing it.

Frequently asked questions

Will it survive a full year of monthly trips?
Probably not without visible wear, it's built for occasional use rather than daily professional travel. Worth upgrading to the Zoppen or Travelon if you travel often.
